39-year-old Man Who Raped 7-year-old Girl In Adamawa Blames Local Beer, ‘Burukutu ‘
A 39-year-old man who was arrested for having unlawful carnal knowledge of a 7-year-old girl in Adamawa State has blamed his actions on locally brewed beer known as Burukutu.
The suspect, Sadiq Ahmed, of Abuja Road in Yola South Local Government Area of the state confessed to defiling the minor on Monday, June 12, 2023.
During interrogation at the police headquarters on Tuesday, June 13, the accused said that he had perpetrated the crime while he was drunk with Burukutu.
He said that he does take anything except Burukutu and deeply regretted defiling the little girl.
The spokesman of the command, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, who confirmed the incident, said that the suspect was nabbed following a complaint by the father of the victim.
The father informed the police that the suspect came to his house while they were away and gave his daughter the sum of N10 and subsequently defiled her.
The PPRO said that the Commissioner of Police, AfolabI Babatola, who had expressed concern over the incident, vowed to ensure the prosecution of the suspect.
