Cameroonian, two Nigerians nabbed for multiple kidnappings in Delta

A 38-year-old man from Cameroon, Abdulahi Mohammed, has been arrested alongside two Nigerians for alleged involvement in repeated kidnappings in Warri, Delta State.

The other suspects are 20-year-old Yakubu Ya’u from Kaduna State and 25-year-old Musa Yakubu from Kogi State.

Delta State Police Command Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, confirmed the arrests in a statement on Thursday, May 16.

He said Ya’u, despite residing in Kaduna, frequently visited Oha and Ughwagba communities in Delta’s Okpe area to kidnap unsuspecting residents for ransom.

Acting on intelligence, a combined team of police operatives from the Delta State Command and the Force Intelligence Unit, Abuja, apprehended Ya’u after an extensive search.

Further investigation led to the arrest of Musa and Mohammed, who are accused of being responsible for several kidnapping incidents in Orerokpe, Sapele, Warri, and surrounding areas.

The victims have identified the suspects.

The alleged kidnappers led detectives to Ughwagba Community in Okpe LGA, where two automatic pump action guns, one live cartridge, and one knife, hidden and buried in the bush, were recovered.

“Preliminary investigations are still ongoing, and efforts to arrest other fleeing members of the gangs are on top gear,” Edafe added.
