Gambia Wins Best Jollof Rice Contest, Beating Nigeria And Ghana (Video)
Gambia has won a big cooking competition for making the best jollof rice. They competed against Nigeria and Ghana, and Gambia came out on top.
The competition was organized by a group that promotes tourism in Nigeria. Gambia won against 15 other countries in this cooking contest.
The event was called the West African Food Festival, which happened from August 9 to 14, 2023. The festival was about showing how different countries in West Africa cook their food.
People got to see traditional meals, go on city tours, learn how to cook, join contests, and enjoy performances from different countries.
There were eight cooking competitions in the festival, where people cooked different foods. There were also four classes to learn new cooking tricks, and people could taste different foods and wines.
Some Nigerians online are not very happy that Gambia won. But Gambia has done well in other jollof rice competitions before, so it’s not a big surprise.
The reason Gambia won is because they have a special way of cooking jollof rice. They don’t always use tomatoes like the others. They use ingredients like mustard, fish, and different flavors to make their jollof rice unique.
