Omugwo is not vacation – TikTok user tells African men to beg their mothers(video)
A TikTok user has outlined why African men and their mothers shouldn’t see Omugwo as a vacation.
In the video, the TikTok user stated that mothers-in-law should not expect their son’s wife to clean and cook during their visit after child birth. According to her, a mother-in-law should be helping out instead.
She also urged men to stand up for their wives as it is not fair for them to be stressing themselves after childbirth. The TikTok user also told men who know that their mother is coming on vacation, to allow their wife’s mother come instead.
She restated that it was unjust to force women to shoulder all of the family duties and obligations at this critical juncture. She went on to say that husbands should actively support and take care of their spouses, making sure they get the help and relaxation they need.
